The Race the World start line will be right at the Hilton Garden Inn and the route will swiftly bring riders to the coast and along the Vista del Mar. The race begins with a 7am start and will kick off with a neutral roll out to safely head to the Venice Beach/Santa Monica Bike Path. This is one of the only bike paths in the world that runs right along the beach, arguably more famous for people strolling than speeding. The early start will allow riders to make the most of it and take time to enjoy this unique scenery. The calm before the storm we could call it.
The first racing part will then begin when the route turns off the path into the Santa Monica Mountains.
The route Race the World will follow through Tuna Canyon is a favourite training route for many professional road racers from around the world. The first stage's finish will be in Tarzana where riders will take a transfer to Joshua Tree National Park.
